5 Reasons to Stop Dating Your Type

Perhaps the path to success in love is an abrupt change in your dating choices. Start with these Five Reasons to Stop Dating Your Type.

1. You’re still single.

“He’s not my type” is a phrase I’ve heard frequently. Potential mates are dismissed because they don’t have the right look, the right job, the right education, live in the right place, drive the right car, plus many more excuses. You continue to date your type, yet you continue to be single. This might be the biggest reason to stop dating your type and try dating a different kind of man. “Your type” hasn’t worked so far, right?

2. Your type might not be interested in you.

I know of a kind, smart, nice looking and extremely quiet man who will only try to date blonde bombshell extroverts 10+ years younger than him. The lack of success with pursuing ‘his type’ might be a message that opposites don’t attract in this case.

I know of women who do not focus on physical exercise for themselves, but only want to date men who spend 7 days a week at the gym. These vastly differing lifestyles do not make a match, let alone create a chance for love. Could it happen? Of course, but again, perhaps the lack of success is a sign to try dating a different type.

3. Experimenting is fun.

Going out with a totally different kind of man can be very exciting. A different dating type will ask you different questions, respond to you differently, and create a different kind of connection. You embark on an adventure since you cannot assume what he will say or do based on dating all the other men who are your type. It keeps you on your toes and forces you to pay attention in the moment. You’ll feel more alive than you’ve felt in a long time.

4.  Your type is not giving you what you need is a key reason to stop dating your type.

Even if you are dating a man who is your type, ask yourself “are you happy in the relationship?” and “why has your type become your type?” You might discover your answers to these questions have changed over time and that what may have been true at one time no longer applies. If he isn’t who you need, and you don’t have the connection with him that you seek, he isn’t your type.
