Visualize Your Valentine: If Mr. Right was standing next to you, how would you know?

Sometimes knowing what you want is the hardest part of dating. We think we know, we assume we know, we get told that we know… except we still don’t. Not really. We might have a passing thought, or we might have identical ideas to all of our friends.

Actually, it’s more likely we know what we don’t want because we have a lot more experience with that. And, it’s that criteria that usually gets listed on our Mr. Right list first. Careful though, if you are venomously writing down things you don’t want, it’s possible you aren’t quite ready for what you do. Yep, it’s true. The good news is that can change if you want it to, and if you make an effort to heal through it.

Taking time to figure out what you really want means you’ve taken time to figure out yourself and who you are, now. You aren’t the same age you were before. You may not be in the same career, job or have the same company as before. Your kids have grown, or you’re figuring out day care, or you have aging parents, or maybe you moved to a new city. Along the way, you’ve learned about what you value, and what’s important in your life.

Apply that same knowledge to your love life and learn to date deliberately. It’s an evolution not a revolution so give yourself some time to grow through the dating process and have fun!
