To Friend or Not to Friend Your Dates

For Facebook fans, “friending” your new guy might seem normal and maybe even a no-brainer. Here’s the issue – If you are only casually dating him, or you are casually dating other men too, do not friend any of them! That’s just a drama-filled disaster waiting to happen.

It only takes one post about a bad date, or how much fun you had, or what a great kisser he is – and you forgot to secure it from all the men you are seeing – and that’s it. With just one click of the mouse, you blew up your love life. Now one thinks you meant him, the other didn’t know you were seeing anyone else, and a third is just confused since you weren’t out with him last night but is convinced you are talking about him.

Better to keep your dating adventures off Facebook until you know it’s a real relationship and you’re ready to share your real-life-self and your online-self with him. If you can legitimately say he’s your boyfriend – and you don’t just wish he was – maybe friend him. This means you both have a mutual desire to be in a relationship and only date each other, and be monogamous. Yes, those are separate questions.

Date Deliberately,

Debra
