When you are figuring out who to date, and determining your dating standards, choose a man who is looking for the same type of relationship you are. If he wants something casual and you don’t, it’ll be a bumpy road while you or he tries to convince the other one to change or you’ll both just ignore the facts and “hope for the best.” Or, it’ll just end. Accept where he is and what he wants and choose someone who wants what you do.

It’s About Timing Not Judgement

Be truthful about your intentions, especially with yourself. Having the confidence to communicate where you are in life and what you are looking for says, “I’m comfortable with myself and my life.” If you’re looking for something with the potential to become serious, admit that to yourself, and then be ok with the consequences if he isn’t looking for the same thing. This is about timing, not judgment. Have the confidence to move on and try again. When you let it be that simple, the whole dating process is less stressful.
